Equipment research and development center to support recycled resin use

Plastics recycling equipment company Xaloy will build an R&D facility in Ohio, with a goal of developing technologies to support the use of recycled resins. Xaloy will use grant money from the JobsOhio program to construct its upcoming Innovation Center.

Xaloy announced it will build the Innovation Center in Austintown, Ohio, where the screw, barrel and front-end components manufacturer is headquartered.

“The industry is undergoing rapid change driven by social awareness, environmental responsibility, and government legislation. The Xaloy Innovation Center will allow us to lead the way to a more sustainable future,” said Cheryl Sayer, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Engineering.

The facility will allow the company to provide technologies that reduce scrap, increase output, promote the recycling of polymers and allow use of newly engineered resins and bio-derived polymers, the release notes. The space will also allow the company to research energy efficiency advancements.
