World crude steel production increases

World crude steel production for the 70 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 155.7 million tonnes (Mt) in June 2026, a 1.7 percent increase compared to June 2025.

Africa produced 2.2 Mt in June 2026, up 20.0 percent on June 2025. Asia and Oceania produced 115.2 Mt, up 1.5 percent. The EU (27) produced 10.8 Mt, up 4.6 percent. Europe, Other produced 3.7 Mt, up 10.4 percent. The Middle East produced 4.0 Mt, down 13.4 percent. North America produced 9.5 Mt, up 5.0 percent. Russia & other CIS + Ukraine produced 6.8 Mt, down 2.2 percent. South America produced 3.5 Mt, down 0.3 percent.

Top 10 steel-producing countries
China produced 83.7 Mt in June 2026, up 0.4 percent on June 2025. India produced 14.1Mt, up 4.5 percent. The United States produced 7.2 Mt, up 3.5 percent. Japan produced 6.8 Mt, up 1.3 percent. Russia is estimated to have produced 5.6 Mt, down 3.4 percent. South Korea produced 5.3 Mt, down 0.9 percent. Turkey produced 3.3 Mt, up 14.7 percent. Germany produced 2.9 Mt, up 9.5 percent. Brazil produced 2.8 Mt, up 0.1 percent. Viet Nam produced 2.6 Mt, up 27.5 percent.
