November steel shipments down 10.2 percent

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of November 2014, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,638,086 net tons, a 10.2 percent decrease from the 8,508,477 net tons shipped in the previous month, October 2014, and a 0.4 percent increase from the 7,604,428 net tons shipped in November 2013.


Shipments year-to-date in 2014 are 90,270,336 net tons, a 2.8 percent increase vs. 2013 shipments of 87,790,788 net tons for 11 months.

A comparison of November shipments to the previous month of October shows the following changes: hot rolled sheets, down 8 percent, cold rolled sheets, down 9 percent and hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 12 percent.
