PureCycle Technologies, Inc. and the Cincinnati Bengals announced a partnership milestone after working together during the 2023 football season. Together, they recycled more than 85,000 pounds of plastic and aluminum at Bengals home games through PureCycle’s PureZero™ program. The Bengals also recycled more than 127,000 pounds of cardboard throughout the season.
PureCycle chief executive officer Dustin Olson said, “This is a team effort. Thank you to the Bengals, Rumpke Waste & Recycling and the Aramark facilities team for their work on this. Together, we have provided a shining example of sustainability for the entire Cincinnati region.” Olson added, “This is proof that organizations that embrace recycling can have tremendous impacts in their communities by keeping waste materials from ending up in landfills and waterways. We’re excited to continue building upon this success in the future.”
As part of the PureZero program, the Bengals have been utilizing a multi-step approach to reduce the amount of plastic waste generated at the team’s home games.
During the 2023 season, Bengals fans were encouraged to participate in stadium recycling by disposing of their recyclable products in appropriate bins. After the games, the Aramark team handpicked the stadium bowl for all recyclables. This helped to lower the contamination rates and increase the amount of recycled content that could be processed by Rumpke Waste & Recycling.
