SWACO grants deadline fast approaching

The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) offers several funding opportunities to support waste reduction, reuse, recycling and composting in Franklin County. SWACO is currently accepting applications for both the Community Waste Reduction and Event Waste Reduction grants programs. Applications must be made before August 2, 2024..

The Community Waste Reduction Grant provides support for innovative projects by organizations such as non-profits, schools, hospitals, churches and local governments that reduce waste or divert it from the landfill. Projects should emphasize collaboration and leverage the waste stream for community and economic benefit, and applications that include outreach, education, and awareness as part of the project are strongly encouraged.

The Event Waste Reduction Grant provides funding for projects at local public events that reduce waste or increase recycling, reuse, composting, and food donation. This grant helps event organizers to divert waste from the landfill and build infrastructure to sustain their diversion efforts into the future. Eligible events must take place during 2024 and funding amounts depend on the size of the event.
