Kollekt U.S., Inc., a new U.S.-based manufacturer and provider of waste and recycling collection equipment, has launched under the leadership of waste industry veteran, Don Ross.
Kollekt brings together North American waste industry experience with the global engineering and manufacturing capabilities of the Kirchhoff family of companies. With its history stretching back to 1785, Kirchhoff has generations of manufacturing experience and today develops waste collection technologies used in markets around the world.
As chief executive officer, Ross will lead Kollekt’s entry into the North American market. He brings nearly 40 years of experience in solid waste and recycling, with a background in collection operations, municipal waste management and refuse equipment manufacturing. Ross previously held senior leadership roles across the industry and is a former SWANA International board member and certified instructor. He currently serves as chairman of the board of trustees for the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA).
Kollekt will be American-led and focused on the needs of municipalities and haulers across North America. The company plans to bring proven European waste collection equipment and technology to North America and adapt them for this market, with these products already in service in New York City.
“There is a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience behind what we’re building, but our focus is firmly on this market,” Ross said. “We have an opportunity to look at waste collection with a fresh perspective and rethink some of the assumptions that have shaped the industry for decades.”
